Kelsey McDonald Nussenfeld and Thomas Kelleher Bredar were married Sept. 14 at the Meridian House in Washington. The groom’s father, Chief Judge James K. Bredar of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, officiated.
The bride, 30, is an associate specializing in mergers and acquisitions at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, the New York law firm. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and received a law degree, cum laude, from N.Y.U.
She is a daughter of Patricia E. McDonald and Harold Nussenfeld of Naples, Fla. The bride’s father is a principal at Skye Asset Management, a private investment firm based in Baltimore. Her mother, who is retired, was a lawyer in private practice, also in Baltimore.
In October, the groom, 28, is to begin working as a litigation associate at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr, the Washington law firm. He graduated from Northwestern and received a law degree from Columbia. Before entering law school, the groom served as a legislative aide to Senator Ben Cardin, Democrat of Maryland.
The groom is a son of Judge Bredar of Baltimore, and the late Diane L. Bredar. He is also a stepson of Stacey S. Bredar. His stepmother is an English teacher at the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Md., a preparatory school.
The couple met in Washington in 2013 while watching a Baltimore Ravens N.F.L. playoff game at a bar.
