The fourth and largest iteration of Julien Boulangerie, the native French baker Julien Khalaf’s bakery, has opened on the Upper East Side. Mr. Khalaf, who was an executive chef for François Payard, established two other nearby locations after the success of his original store in Park Slope, Brooklyn, which opened in 2020. What distinguishes the new bakery is its size, with an expanded kitchen and, coming on Sept. 22, a 40-seat bistro with waiter service, a full menu of salads, soups, hot dishes, beer, wine and, of course, desserts and pastries. The pastry and bread counters are already in full flourish, selling Mr. Khalaf’s specialty croissants, among many other items, and prepared sandwiches and salads.
