Julie Nicole Tiedrich and Steven Michael Counts were married June 8 at the Avenue A Club, an events space in Newark. Jonathan Mannion, a friend of the couple who became a Universal Life minister for the event, officiated.
In August, the bride, 29, will become a consultant at McKinsey & Company in Detroit. She graduated magna cum laude from George Washington University and received an M.B.A. with distinction from the University of Michigan.
She is a daughter of Deborah W. Tiedrich and Dr. Allan D. Tiedrich of Westfield, N.J. The bride’s father is a physiatrist and medicinal marijuana doctor in private practice in Plainfield, N.J., where the bride’s mother works as the business manager. The bride’s mother also works as a grief counselor for teenagers coping with loss at Imagine, an organization that seeks to ensure adequate medical care for mothers and children living in poor nations.
The groom 37, is a freelance sports advertising photographer whose subjects have included LeBron James, Serena Williams, Neymar and Alex Ovechkin. He received a media and communication arts associate degree from Macomb Community College in Warren, Mich.
He is the son of Karen E. Counts and Larry M. Counts of Homosassa, Fla. The groom’s father retired as a laminating technician at Chrysler in Detroit. His mother is a freelance health insurer in Homosassa.
The couple met in 2015 in New York.
