Johanna Adams Paine and Dr. Andrew John Buchan were married Oct. 5. Maureen Abi Ghanem, a friend of the couple who became a Universal Life Minister for the occasion, officiated at the home of the groom’s parents in Sharon, Conn.
The bride, 32, is the mission effectiveness coordinator in Little Rock, Ark., at Heifer International, an organization based in Perryville, Ark., that focuses on stimulating socio-economic growth and ending hunger and poverty in underdeveloped countries. She graduated from Connecticut College and received a master’s degree in urban planning with a focus on international development planning from N.Y.U.
She is a daughter of Cathie P. Paine and Alexander T. Paine of Scituate, Mass. The bride’s father is the president of Global Neckwear Marketing, a silk wear design and distribution firm based in Dorchester, Mass, where her mother also works as the operations manager.
The groom, 33, is a radiology physician completing his residency in interventional radiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He graduated from Stanford and received a medical degree from Tulane.
He is the son of Teresa F. Buchan and Norman J. Buchan of New York. The groom’s mother was a stay-at-home parent. His father retired as an executive vice president for JPMorgan Chase in New York.
The couple met in 2012 in New York while both were completing their post-undergraduate degrees.
