Dr. Joanna Elizabeth Grater and David Kenneth Nellhaus were married July 20. Victoria A. Burdick, a Universal Brotherhood minister, officiated at Latitude 41, a restaurant and events space in Mystic, Conn.
Dr. Grater, 35, is a second-year fellow in developmental and behavioral pediatrics at the Rose F. Kennedy Center, a specialty clinic in the Bronx of Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Medical Center. She graduated from McGill University in Montreal and received a medical degree from St. George’s University in Grenada.
She is the daughter of Kathleen P. Grater and Mark O. Grater of Mystic. The bride’s father is a lawyer in private practice in Groton, Conn. Her mother retired in June as the nurse at S. B. Butler Elementary School, an elementary school that is also in Mystic.
Mr. Nellhaus, 34, is a strategy manager in the automobile lending division, in Brooklyn, of JPMorgan Chase & Company’s consumer and community bank. He graduated from Northwestern and received an M.B.A. from N.Y.U.
He is a son of Susan L. Nellhaus and Howard B. Nellhaus of Middleton, Mass. The groom’s mother retired as a speech pathologist at the Salemwood School in Malden, Mass. His father is a financial planner in Middleton for Voya Financial Advisors, an investment manager.
The couple met on Tinder in 2015, and, as they are both fans of the New England Patriots, had their first date at a bar in Brooklyn that tunes in the team’s games.
