Jesse Keith Oxfeld and William Christopher Strasser were married Sept. 21 at the Deer Mountain Inn in Tannersville, N.Y. Michael Barbaro, host of the New York Times podcast “The Daily,” who became a Universal Life minister for the event, officiated.
Mr. Oxfeld (left), 43, is the director of executive communications for Pace University in New York. He is also a freelance theater critic and a founder of New York Stage Review, a digital publication. He graduated from Stanford.
He is a son of Ellen Oxfeld and Sanford Oxfeld of West Orange, N.J. Mr. Oxfeld’s father is the managing partner of Oxfeld Cohen, a law firm in Newark. His mother retired as a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker in Livingston, N.J.
Mr. Strasser, 32, is a software engineer for Oscar Health, a health insurance company in New York. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.
He is the son of Mary Strasser and Christopher Strasser of South Dartmouth, Mass. Mr. Strasser’s mother, who is retired, led nonprofit organizations in Philadelphia. From 2011 to 2015, she worked at the Corporation for National and Community Service in Washington, as the director of AmericaCorps VISTA. His father, who was a hospital administrator for several large health care organizations, retired from Abington-Jefferson Health in Philadelphia.
The couple initially met on Tinder in 2013, when Mr. Strasser, then living in Philadelphia, was visiting New York. They met for a drink before Mr. Oxfeld went off to see a play and Mr. Strasser went back to Philadelphia. In the fall of 2016, after Mr. Strasser had moved to New York, he contacted Mr. Oxfeld via Facebook and they met for drinks again, but this time drinks turned into dinner and they were soon an item.
