Dr. Jennifer Miao and Zachary Brian Feldman were married April 27 at Rosecliff, a mansion in Newport, R.I. Peter B. Regan, a former judge at the municipal court in Middletown, R.I., led a ceremony incorporating Christian elements.
The couple met at Vanderbilt University, from which each graduated cum laude, she with a degree in English literature and music, focusing on piano performance, and he in molecular and cellular biology. She also received a medical degree from Vanderbilt, where he is now pursuing one.
Dr. Miao, 26, is an intern at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where her research focuses on biomarkers that may aid in early detection for patients with heart failure and amyloidosis.
She is the daughter of Dr. Hongwei Bai and Dr. Lin Miao of Tewksbury, Mass. The bride’s father is a cardiologist in private practice in Laconia, N.H. Her mother is a pathologist and chair of pathology and laboratory services at MelroseWakefield Healthcare in Melrose, Mass.
Mr. Feldman, 25, until 2018, did research on targeted gene transcription networks in atherosclerosis and heart disease in the cardiovascular division, also at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and continues to pursue research in those areas.
He is the son of Suzanne Brecker Feldman of Houston. The groom’s mother is an independent residential real estate broker there.
The couple met in January 2013 while working at a basketball concession stand in college to raise money for a clinic in Peru. The next day they studied together in the library (she really didn’t have to study, but it was a good excuse to spend time with him). They quickly became best friends and began dating.
