Jennifer Rose Lefebvre and John Everett Thornton Jr. were married Feb. 9 at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Judge Donald L. Graham of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, officiated.
The couple met in 2011 at the University of Miami, from which each received a law degree.
The bride, 32, is an assistant public defender in Miami. She also serves as a board member at Riverside House, a residential prison re-entry facility in Miami. She graduated from Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J.
She is a daughter of Lauren A. Bobby of Margate, Fla., and a stepdaughter of Michael E. Bobby. The bride’s mother is the founder of Monarch Handcrafted Essentials, a company specializing in soy candles, wax melts and candle accessories in Margate. Her stepfather is a physical education teacher at Westglades Middle School in Parkland, Fla.
The groom, 29, is a senior associate in Miami at Hogan Lovells, a law firm based in London and Washington, where he works with health insurance providers, energy companies and educational and financial institutions. He previously served as a judicial law clerk to Judge Graham. The groom is the president of the Gator Club of Miami, where he raises scholarship funds for Miami-Dade seniors matriculating at the University of Florida. He graduated from the University of Florida.
He is the son of Mattie P. Thornton and John E. Thornton Sr. of Seminole, Fla. The groom’s mother, who is retired, was a chef at the Belleair Health Care Center in Clearwater, Fla. His father, who is also retired, worked in the dietetics department of the C.W. Young V.A. Medical Center in Bay Pines, Fla.
