Jasmin Julia Hume and Carlos Aracil Lloret were married Oct. 18 by a staff member in the office of the Amsterdam Marriage Bureau in Amsterdam. On May 25, the couple exchanged vows at Atzaró, and agritourism resort in Ibiza, Spain, led by Raquel Esteban, a friend of the couple.
Dr. Hume, 35, is the founder and chief executive of Shiru, a San Francisco-based food technology company that creates enhanced protein ingredients. She graduated from McGill University in Montreal and received a master’s degree in materials science from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. She received a doctoral degree in materials chemistry from N.Y.U.
She is a daughter of Dr. Rigmor E. Spang and Cameron R. Hume, both of New York. The bride’s father, who retired as a career diplomat with the State Department, is an adjunct professor at Georgetown. Her mother is a pediatrician in a New York office of AdvantageCare Physicians.
Mr. Aracil Lloret, 36, is the head of carrier operations for Uber Freight in Amsterdam. He graduated from Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Spain and received an M.B.A. from IESE Business School, where he also studied at Harvard and M.I.T.
He is the son of Dr. José Aracil of Valencia, Spain, and the late Isabel T. Lloret, who also lived in Valencia. The groom’s father is the head of lower limb orthopedic surgery and traumatology at University Hospital, La Fe in Valencia. His mother was a physiotherapist and nurse in Valencia.
The couple met in 2017 in San Francisco through the dating app Tinder.
