Jaffa Loren Panken and Herbert Joshua Stanton were married March 7 at King Plow Arts Center in Atlanta. Rabbi Laurence Rosenthal officiated.
Dr. Panken, 36, works in Atlanta as a taxonomist at CNN, where she works to organize concepts to classify articles on its website. She graduated from Cornell and received a master’s degree in information science from the University of North Carolina and a doctorate in history from University of Pennsylvania.
She is a daughter of Dr. Cindy L. Schwartz and Howard L. Panken of Mequon, Wis. Her father is a self-employed information security specialist in Mequon. Her mother is the chief of pediatric hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant and the Rebecca Jean Slye chair in oncology at Medical College of Wisconsin and Children’s Wisconsin, in Milwaukee.
Mr. Stanton, 33, who goes by Josh, is a self-employed real estate investor as well as a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty Metro Atlanta. He graduated from Penn State.
He is the son of Jamie P. Stanton and Clifford T. Stanton of Wyndmoor, Pa. His mother, who is retired, was the senior director of care management at Independence Blue Cross in Philadelphia. She works as a self-employed consultant for health care organizations in Philadelphia. His father, who is also retired, was a history and psychology teacher at Constitution High School in Philadelphia.
The couple met in 2008 at a Flaming Lips concert in Philadelphia.
