Welcome to Love Letter. We’re committed to bringing you all kinds of love stories — about the highs, the lows and everything in between — from The New York Times.
Here’s what you can expect every Friday: the poignant first-person essays of Modern Love and everything in its world (Tiny Love Stories, the Modern Love podcast, the soon-to-launch Modern Love TV series); an inside look at real wedding celebrations around the world from Vows; and practical advice on wedding planning and all the things that come with it. We also share relationship advice from couples who have survived theirs — and those who haven’t.
And to read about the ailing bird that stole our hearts, scroll to the bottom.

One quick story before you go.
Few things are more heartbreaking than coming across a fallen bird. This week, members of the Styles desk led a rescue operation involving a bird that was trapped in the atrium of The Times building. The distressed Virginia rail was treated at the Wild Bird Fund headquarters in New York and released in the North Woods of Central Park later that day. The bird’s file said it “flies well.” Just another reminder that love knows no bounds, and animals are no exception.
We want to hear your stories.
Here’s how to submit a Modern Love essay or an Unhitched column. Don’t feel like writing more than two tweets, an Instagram caption or a Facebook post? Consider submitting to Tiny Love Stories, which are no more than 100 words.
