Ilana Sari Glusband and Isaac Joseph Gruber were married Jan. 12 at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan. Rabbi Daniel Alder officiated.
Mrs. Gruber, 34, works in Jersey City as a director in the compliance department of RBC Capital Markets, a division of the Royal Bank of Canada in Toronto. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin and received a law degree from Brooklyn Law School.
She is the daughter of Roberta J. Glusband and Steven J. Glusband of Manhattan. The bride’s mother retired as a literacy instructor at Public School 316 in Brooklyn. Her father is a partner in the Manhattan law firm Carter Ledyard & Milburn, where he is the chairman of its corporate department.
Mr. Gruber, 36, is the general counsel at Eden Capital, an investment management firm in Manhattan. He graduated from Emory University and received a law degree with honors from the University of Chicago.
He is a son of Iris H. Gruber and Robert M. Gruber of Fairfield, Conn. The groom’s father retired as an executive director in the foreign exchange department at JPMorgan Chase in Manhattan.
The couple met in 2017 through the dating app Bumble, and on their first date waited for each other at two different bars with similar names in the Flatiron district. Ms. Glusband was at the Flatiron Room and Mr. Gruber was at the Flatiron Lounge several blocks away. After a few texts, she caught up with him at the lounge. Their next date was at the restaurant Ushiwakamaru, which presented no opportunity for confusion.
