Hallie Rose Malitsky and Alejo Eduardo Czerwonko were married May 31 at Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Mario Bours Laborin, a friend of the couple who became a Universal Life minister for the occasion, officiated.
The bride, 31, is the designer for Lela Rose’s Pearl Collection, a women’s fashion line in New York. She graduated cum laude from Drexel University with a degree in fashion design. She also received a certificate of fashion design from both the Rhode Island School of Design and the London College of Fashion.
She is the daughter of Andrea Decof and Edward B. Malitsky of Boston. The bride’s father is a photographer and filmmaker in Boston. Her mother is a past director of the Adele R. Decof Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting improvements in cancer treatments that was based in Providence, R.I. She now works as a unit coordinator at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
The groom, 33, is an executive director and investment strategist at the chief investment office of UBS in New York. He specializes in making asset allocation decisions involving emerging market financial assets.
He graduated from Universidad del CEMA in Buenos Aires and received a Ph.D. in economics from Columbia. He also holds a graduate degree in economics and finance from Tilburg University in the Netherlands. From 2007 to 2013, the groom also taught economics and finance courses at Columbia Business School, Columbia College and Universidad del CEMA.
He is a son of Marcela A. Pupi and Dr. Eduardo H. Czerwonko, both of Buenos Aires. The groom’s mother is a nutritionist in Buenos Aires. His father is a general practitioner, also in private practice there.
The couple met in 2012 in New York.
