The low-slung industrial building at 50 Norman Avenue in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, formerly housed an auto repair shop. Now a Japanese company specializing in the umami-rich broth dashi, among other things, will open a store on the premises on Friday. It will sell packaged dashi ingredient mixtures, $19 to $45 for 10, 15 or 30 bags, as well as other Japanese cooking products, and costumers will be able to order personalized dashi bases at a counter. There will also be a bar and a few tables for simple fare like grilled fish with rice. Also in the complex is Cibone, also opening Friday, a shop selling art and artisanal goods by Japanese artists; House, an eight-seat French-Japanese restaurant, will open in October.
