Dr. Chuan Frances Fan and Alexander Donald Terepka were married Oct. 18 at Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens and Sculpture Park in Kilauea, Hawaii. Judge Richard R. Clifton of the Federal Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, in Honolulu, and for whom the groom was a law clerk, officiated.
Dr. Fan, 33, is known as Frances. She is a vascular neurologist at the Providence St. John’s Health Center, a hospital in Santa Monica, Calif., where she specializes in treating stroke patients. She graduated with distinction from Emory University, and received a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia.
She is the daughter of Dr. Ping S. Strickland and of Zhigang Fan, both of Atlanta.
Mr. Terepka, also 33, is a litigation associate in the Los Angeles office of Jones Day, a law firm. He graduated from Cornell and received a law degree magna cum laude from the University of Michigan.
He is a son of Hendrina G. Schindeler and Donald H. Terepka of Pittsford, N.Y.
The couple met in 2018 through the dating app Coffee Meets Bagel and had their first date over dinner at a restaurant in Los Angeles.
