On the trail or around the campfire, you have to eat. And increasingly, Patagonia, the outdoor gear company, can stock your backpack. Its line of responsibly sourced shelf-stable products keeps expanding; most are also worth pantry space at home. Among the latest are crackers made from breadfruit flour — take that, Captain Bligh! The handy, crisp little squares come in three flavors — honey sesame, seeded turmeric and aji molido — ready for a dip or a smear of chèvre. The company has also introduced plump Spanish anchovies seasoned with roasted garlic, or lemon and olive. These are whole fish, more like sardines than the flat, salty strips one thinks of for a Caesar salad. They’re excellent on a tartine, for tapas or even tossed with pasta.
Breadfruit Crackers, $7 for four ounces; Spanish white anchovies, $7 for a 4.2-ounce can; Patagonia Provisions, patagoniaprovisions.com.
