Leave it to Performa, the performance art institute, to elevate a dress code into a full-on spectacle. On Wednesday, the arts group held a black-and-white gala honoring Adam Pendleton at 99 Scott Studio in Brooklyn. About 400 artists and benefactors attended the dinner and party with barely a stitch of color, including a magnificent pair of white Balenciaga pajamas.
On Monday, the Parsons School of Design raised $2.6 million at its benefit at the Glasshouse, which honored Tory Burch, Lauren Santo Domingo, Darren Walker and Kehinde Wiley. Many guests wore emerging designers with a theatrical flair.
And the Public Theater raised $2.25 million at its annual gala in Central Park on Tuesday. The alfresco dinner, which honored the producer Gil Shiva, was followed by performances by Renée Elise Goldsberry and Oscar Isaac.

“We have the best team in the world, and it’s no coincidence that many of them went to Parsons.” — Tory Burch, who was honored by Parsons.
The Performa gala featured dinner under the stars, a poetry reading by Joan Retallack and a Julius Eastman work played on four pianos.
“New York without institutions like Parsons would just be another large soulless space.” — Darren Walker, who was honored by Parsons.
