Former bad boys of New York’s downtown art scene spent last Sunday in the polo fields of Greenwich, Conn., where the Brant Foundation Art Study Center held a pared-back opening for Spencer Sweeney, the artist, D.J. and party ringleader. Instead of a lavish affair with spit-roasted lamb, artists like Dan Colen, Nate Lowman and Tabboo! had to chase down trays of canapés.
Variety celebrated its Power of Women issue on May 5 at the Glasshouse, with appearances by Queen Latifah, Amanda Seyfried, Billy Porter and Tamron Hall in a cheerful, daffodil-yellow dress.
Also that night, the New York City Ballet raised $2.6 million at its black-tie spring gala, which drew a number of politicians including Mayor Eric Adams of New York, the former mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Senator Chuck Schumer of New York. Floral dresses and bright moods were in season.
