Emma Frances Hanley and Logan William Craig were married Aug. 24 at the home of Frances F. Bowes, the bride’s maternal grandmother, in Sonoma, Calif. D. Stephen Williamson, the bride’s stepfather, who was appointed a deputy marriage commissioner for the occasion by the City and County of San Francisco, officiated.
Ms. Hanley, 29, recently received an M.B.A. from Stanford. Until 2015 she was a specialist in the impressionist and modern art department at Christie’s in New York. She graduated with distinction from the University of California, Berkeley.
She is the daughter of Alexandra Bowes of San Francisco and Jack Hanley of New York. The bride’s father is the owner of the Jack Hanley Gallery in New York, which focuses on emerging contemporary artists. Until January he was on the board of the New Art Dealers Alliance in New York, which offers support and programs to new art galleries and runs art fairs around the country. Her mother is a San Francisco-based architectural designer who develops properties in Sonoma County. She is on the boards of the New Museum of New York and BAMPFA in Berkeley, Calif. Her stepfather is the chief executive of the Forager Project, an organic food company in San Francisco, of which he is a founder, along with John Charles G. Hanley, the bride’s brother.
Mr. Craig, 31, is the manager of renewable power development at Royal Dutch Shell in San Francisco. He graduated from University of California, Los Angeles.
He is the son of Vickie Gustafsen Craig and Robert L. Craig of Santa Barbara, Calif. The groom’s mother is a real estate agent at Village Properties in Montecito, Calif. His father is the director of marketing at Lotusland, the estate in Montecito of Madame Ganna Walska, who was a Polish opera singer and garden enthusiast.
Ms. Hanley and Mr. Craig were introduced by mutual friends in 2011 when they gathered in Dolores Park on the Fourth of July to watch fireworks over San Francisco. They began dating, and on Labor Day weekend, while en route to Mr. Craig’s parents’ house in Napa Valley, they dropped in to see Ms. Hanley’s maternal grandmother, who within minutes detected, and told Ms. Hanley that Mr. Craig was head over heels for her. “It was absolutely true,’’ Mr. Craig said.
