Emily Maryn Laird and Scott James Dresser were married June 22 at First Parish Church of York, Me. Dan Hollis, a United Church of Christ minister and pastor, performed the ceremony.
Mrs. Dresser, 30, is a development assistant at Preble Street, a nonprofit organization in Portland, Me., that provides social services to the homeless. She graduated from Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass., and received a master’s degree in arts administration from Boston University.
She is the daughter of Jeannine C. Atkins and Peter A. Laird of Whately, Mass. The bride’s father, a comic book writer and artist, is a creator of the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” Her mother is the author of 15 books, including novels and picture books for children. Her most recent book was “Finding Wonders: Three Girls Who Changed Science” (Simon & Schuster, 2016).
Mr. Dresser, 32, is studying for a master’s degree in public policy at the University of Southern Maine. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
He is a son of Susan L. Dresser and James G. Dresser of Hingham, Mass. The groom’s parents work at the Dresco Belting Company in Weymouth, Mass. His mother is the office manager. His father is a vice president and treasurer.
The couple met on Match.com in January 2017.
