Diane Shuyan Hu and Alexander Joseph William Sappington were married Dec. 20 at Villa Serenita, a rental home in St. Thomas, in the United States Virgin Islands. Michael Motylinski, who received an online ordination through the Wanderlust Bay Ministries, officiated.
The couple met at Princeton, from which each graduated, the bride cum laude and the groom summa cum laude.
Ms. Hu, 26, is a judicial law clerk in New York for Judge Louis L. Stanton of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. She received a law degree from Columbia.
She is a daughter of Susan X. Hu and James M. Hu of Sammamish, Wash. The bride’s father, who is retired, was the founder and managing director of the Microsoft Corporation’s Microsoft Asia Center for Hardware in Shenzhen, China. Her mother, who is also retired, was a software engineer at the Center for Advanced Life Cycle Engineering at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md.
Mr. Sappington, also 26, is an M.B.A. candidate at Stanford and was previously a management consultant in the Summit, N.J., office of the Boston Consulting Group, a management consulting company based in Boston.
He is the son of Dr. Deborah B. Sappington and David E. M. Sappington of Gainesville, Fla. His father is a professor of economics at the University of Florida. His mother is the owner of Sappington Orthodontics, an orthodontic practice in Gainesville.
