David John Grasso and Hugo Manuel Camarena were married Nov. 17 at the Celebration Golf Club in Celebration, Fla. Maria A. Roncari, a notary public in Florida, officiated incorporating Christian elements.
Mr. Grasso (left), 34, is the media director at Generation Financial Knowledge Development, a nonprofit organization in New York that promotes economic literacy among young Americans. He is also an anchor of Bold Business, a weekly show focusing on economic empowerment for millennials, on Bold TV, a streaming television news network on Facebook and Periscope. He graduated magna cum laude from Rollins College and received a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard.
He is a son of Dr. Carina Ortega-Grasso and Dr. Louis A. Grasso III of Celebration. His parents, both chiropractors, are co-owners of a group practice in Kissimmee.
Mr. Camarena, 27, is a researcher in the division of abdominal organ transplantation at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center in New York. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley.
He is the son of Dora Flores Márquez of Banning, Calif., and the late César H. Camarena Velásquez. He is the stepson of Alberto Márquez. His father was an agricultural engineer in Nayarit, Mexico, at Altecsa, a producer of food products. His stepfather is a painter working mainly on houses on the market for Ready Realty, a real estate firm in Los Angeles.
In December 2016 as soon as Mr. Grasso saw Mr. Camarena across the room at a mutual friend’s birthday party in New York, he immediately ran over to Mr. Camarena, and struck up a conversation in Spanish. But, Mr. Camarena was not at all interested in him. So when Mr. Grasso asked him for his number Mr. Camarena made sure to slip out the door without giving it to him. A couple of months later when they ran into each other at another friend’s party, Mr. Camarena had a change of heart, and soon after they went on their first date.
