Connie Chang and James Michael Blakemore were married Sept. 7 at Solitude Mountain Resort, a ski resort in Solitude, Utah. Michael Horn, a friend of the couple who is a Universal Life minister, officiated, with William I. Miller, the couple’s professor at the University of Michigan Law School, taking part in the ceremony.
The couple met at the University of Michigan, from which she graduated and both received law degrees, he magna cum laude.
Ms. Chang, 33, is an associate general counsel for the Obama Foundation in Washington.
She is a daughter of Mei-Hwa Chang and David Chang of Troy, Mich. The bride’s father, who is retired, was the president of the Kureha (China) Investment Company in Shanghai. Her mother was a stay-at- home parent.
Mr. Blakemore, 34, is a founder of Ketsal Consulting, a blockchain consulting firm in Brooklyn, and a founder of Blakemore, Fallon, Garcia, Rosini & Russo, a blockchain-focused law firm, also in Brooklyn. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan law school where he teaches a class about blockchain and the law. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Utah, from which he also received a master’s degree in British and American literature.
He is a son of Joan C. Watt of Salt Lake City and the late Warren M. Blakemore. The groom’s mother, who is retired, was the chief appellate attorney of the Salt Lake Legal Defender Association, for which the groom’s stepfather, Patrick L. Anderson, retired as the executive director. . The groom’s father, who was a geologist, held ownership and management positions in several oil and gas businesses, including the Constitution Petroleum Company in Salt Lake City.
