Claudia Isabella Leon and Rebecca Marie Loftis were married Feb. 22 at Springdale Station in Austin, Texas. Holly Lorka, who was ordained through Rose Ministries, officiated.
The couple met at Rice University in Houston, from which each graduated.
Ms. Leon (left), 26, is a mechanical engineer in the additive manufacturing group at Baker Hughes, an energy services company in Houston. She received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
She is a daughter of Ana M. Leon and Manuel A. Leon Jr. of Miami. Her father is the vice president of business development at Alivi, a health care benefits management company in Doral, Fla. Her mother works in Miami as a district coordinator at Aflac, an insurance company based in Columbus, Ga.
Ms. Loftis, 28, who goes by Becca, and is taking the surname Leon, works in Houston as a business strategy consultant in the talent practice at Accenture, a professional services company based in Dublin.
She is a daughter of MaryKay Loftis and Tom Loftis of St. Clair, Mich. Her father works in Marysville, Mich., as the plant controller at TI Fluid Systems, a maker of automotive fluid systems, fuel tank and delivery systems, based in Oxford, England. Her mother, who was a stay-at-home parent, was a kindergarten teacher at Eddy Elementary School in St. Clair.
Ms. Leon regularly ordered iced coffee from Ms. Loftis, who was a barista at Rice’s student-run coffee house, starting in 2011, their freshman year. It wasn’t until a year after graduation that they hit it off after being reintroduced at a mutual friend’s party in Houston. A couple of weeks later they had their first date.
