Clare Laura Doody and Stephen Andrew Krupin were married Nov. 17 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington. Rabbi Aaron Alexander officiated.
Ms. Doody, 31, works in Washington as the senior editor at Pivotal Ventures, the executive office of Melinda Gates, where she is a speechwriter. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California.
She is a daughter of Dr. Rachelle S. Doody of Basel, Switzerland, and Terrence A. Doody of Houston. The bride’s father, who is retired, was a professor of English at Rice University in Houston. Her mother is the global head of neurodegeneration for Roche, Genentech, the pharmaceutical company in Basel.
Mr. Krupin, 36, is the managing director and director of executive communications at the public affairs firm SKDKnickerbocker in Washington. He is also an adjunct lecturer of public policy at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He served in the White House as a senior speechwriter to President Barack Obama. He graduated from Northwestern and received a master’s degree in media and public affairs from George Washington University.
He is the son of Connie G. Krupin and Jay P. Krupin of Washington. His mother is the president of Connie Krupin Interiors, an interior design firm in Washington. His father is a partner in BakerHostetler, a law firm in Washington, for which he is also a national chair of the labor relations practice.
The couple met in 2014 while collaborating on a humor speech for Secretary of State John Kerry.
