Chrissy Teigen Wants You To Eat and Look Good This Thanksgiving

Whoever said you shouldn’t meet your heroes has never been in the same room as Chrissy Teigen. The cookbook author-model-TV host-designer-social media personality is so bursting with things to promote that the launch party for her new collection with Revolve doubled as a reason to celebrate her new cookbook, Cravings: Hungry for More.

It’s the sort of refreshing combination that Teigen has built her career upon. Not many celebrities find that new wide leg trousers and red mini skirts pair well with unzip-your-pants-sized meals like meatball subs or extra cheesy grilled cheeses. But Teigen is able to juggle it all, for the most part. Our first interview was rescheduled because she was dealing with a “weird neck thing,” she says—an excuse she doesn’t owe to me but makes a point to mention and apologize. Weird neck thing now remedied, Teigen is at the Revolve pop-up in New York City, wearing the Revolve x Chrissy Phuket dress and sitting on a millennial pink chair in front of giant flower wall. She answers the important questions, like which Real Housewife would look best in her new collection and what she and John are doing for Halloween.

What’s your favorite design from the collection?

Oh my God. The thing I love most about the collection is that nothing is super bodycon or tight. We also have a lot of multi-piece options. I love layering and I love the chunky knit cardigan. I really love things that can be worn on a like daily basis and not just for a date night or something.

Which outfit would Luna love to wear?

She definitely snuggles on the chunky knit. It’s this white beautiful cardigan that’s really super soft, and uber luxurious. I feel like an amazing faux fur for Luna. She just loves a luxurious fabric. So does Miles too, he just eats it up. He just like rubs it against his face.

Which outfit would Pepper (your mom) love?

My mom buys everything four sizes bigger than the way she needs it. She likes to be very comfy. I would say we have a red off the shoulder sweater that she loves for holiday, but again she gets it in an extra large because she likes to be super cozy in it.

If you could dress one housewife from any of the Real Housewives franchises which one would you pick?

I feel like I have really similar style to Bethenny. Whenever I look at Bethenny we like the same clothes. The OC is different because they like have a totally different vibe. I have a lot of the same clothes as Kelly on the OC. Honestly Bethenny would be so fun because she can do transitional day to night and still look really good. And her body is amazing.

If you created a “scary island” which housewives would you put on it?

Oh God, well, Kelly was the original scary island. I’d do Ramona and Sonja because they’re amazing together. Kelly for sure. Kenya, and let’s do the Countess from New York.

What the best outfit from your collection that’s like roomy enough for Thanksgiving?

I wanted to make sure that everything was roomy enough to wear, but still chic and sexy at the same time. Nothing is too bodycon. We have some bodysuits that go great with these really amazing tailored pants but they’re still flowy. You don’t have to unbutton or de-cinch anything.

Have you decided what you’re cooking for Thanksgiving yet?

Yes, definitely. I usually do two chickens instead of a turkey. This year we’re in New York for Thanksgiving, which is totally new to us. John’s doing the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, so we’re going to have a smaller Thanksgiving in New York and I’m gonna keep it tight. I’m going to try and narrow it down to like four or five sides and the meat. Which will not be turkey, because turkey sucks.

Will you have Stove Top Stuffing?

Oh, I love Stove Top. Absolutely. Stove Top always, I love that flavor. Everyone’s like do you work for Stove Top? I’m like no. It’s delicious, it’s got MSG, salt, and butter. If you make it too early, it’s horrible. Usually the more you let things sit the better, no not Stove Top.

Do you play music while you cook?

I do! I play a lot of Arianna Grande, Rihanna, Mariah Carey Number One‘s the album. I just like playing my girls.

Are you going to teach Luna and Miles to cook?

Oh, absolutely. Luna loves the kitchen already. You don’t expect that they’re going to take to it or want to do it or have the same passions that you have.

Do you know what Luna and Miles are going to be for Halloween?

They’re not really into it. Miles doesn’t have any clue what’s happening. Luna plays dress up every day of her life. She really isn’t going to be that thrilled by it, so it’s mostly a mommy daddy holiday. That’s for right now. Next year will be bigger.

Do you know what you’re going to be for Halloween this year?

I do but it’s a surprise. I will say that we’re going with two other couples, Luke and Megan, my agent manager, and Jen [Atkin] and Mike Rosenthal. I will say that John always gets screwed in these couple things because he’s just so fun to dress up and he does whatever anyone says. You’ll see.
