Catherine Emily Roedel and John Matthew Ross II are to be married Sept. 1 at Onteora Mountain House in Boiceville, N.Y. Patrick O’Gorman, a cousin of the bride who became a Universal Life minister for the event, is to officiate.
Ms. Roedel, 29, will be taking her husband’s name. She is a senior brand strategist at IBM Watson in Manhattan. She graduated from Dartmouth.
She is the daughter of Catherine Jane Roedel and Smith W. Roedel, both of Three Forks, Mont. The bride’s father is retired as a freelance photojournalist in Three Forks, where he also owned and managed the Sacajawea Inn. Her mother is a retired registered nurse and biomedical donor services manager at the American Red Cross in Bozeman, Mont., and Salt Lake City.
Mr. Ross, 32, is a senior associate at Black Diamond Capital Management, a private equity fund in Greenwich, Conn. He graduated cum laude from Dartmouth, from which he also received an M.B.A.
He is the son of Shirley P. Ross and John M. Ross of Massapequa Park, N.Y. The groom’s mother retired as an executive assistant at Chemical Bank in Manhattan. She later became a medical assistant with an ophthalmology practice in Massapequa. The groom’s father is a retired New York City firefighter who was last stationed at Engine 321 in Brooklyn.
The couple, who were introduced by mutual friends, met at a Manhattan bar in June 2013.
