Catherine Ruth Braun and David Alexander Stern were married May 30 at the Manhattan Marriage Bureau. Joey Tai, a staff member in the New York City Clerk’s Office, officiated. On June 22, Jeffrey A. Cavanaugh, a friend of the couple, is to lead them through their vows at Château de Varennes in the Burgundy region of France.
Mrs. Stern, 36, is a management consultant in the life sciences and health care practice of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, the New York professional services concern. She graduated summa cum laude from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, received a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Towson University in Maryland, and received a master’s degree in public health from Harvard.
She is the daughter of I. Caroline Braun and David Maxwell Braun of McLean, Va. The bride’s father, who is retired, was the editor in chief for digital media at National Geographic in Washington. He continues to serve as a safari expert for the National Geographic Society. Her mother is a copy editor for National Geographic.
Mr. Stern, 35, is the senior vice president for television development and production at Playground Entertainment, a production company in New York. He graduated with honors from Northeastern.
He is the son of Sandra J. Stern of Mahwah, N.J., and the late Frank P. Stern. The groom’s mother is the project manager for translation services in the Ridgewood, N.J., office of Inlingua, a language school. His father retired as the vice president for software development in the Montvale, N.J., office of TeleCheck, a financial services company.
The couple met in 2017 through the League, an online dating service.
