Caroline Julia Mencio and Dr. Sean Anthony Sutton were married Jan. 11 at Epiphany Catholic Church in Miami. Msgr. Jude O’Doherty performed the ceremony.
The couple met at the University of Michigan, from which each graduated.
Mrs. Sutton, 27, is pursuing a doctorate of nursing practice, family nurse practitioner at Columbia. Until July, she worked as a registered nurse in the dermatology unit at Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
The bride is a daughter of Cecilia M. Altonaga and George Mencio Jr. of Coral Gables, Fla. The bride’s father works in the Miami office of Holland & Knight, a law firm, where he is a partner. Her mother is a United States District Court judge for the Southern District of Florida, in Miami.
Dr. Sutton, 29, a dentist, works at Greenwich Dentistry in Greenwich, Conn., a private practice owned by his father, Dr. Mark Sutton, also a dentist.
The groom is a son of Nina Sutton and Dr. Sutton of Greenwich. His mother worked as a critical care nurse at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y., before becoming a stay-at-home parent.
The couple met in January 2014 at Scorekeepers, a popular off-campus bar in Ann Arbor, Mich., but began dating in August when they lived about five minutes from each other in New York — she in Murray Hill, he in Kips Bay.
