Caroline J. M. Dubois and Yohan Avner Benizri are to be married Aug. 25 at City Hall in the Uccle area of Brussels. Jonathan Biermann, a friend of the groom who is an alderman there, is to officiate.
Ms. Dubois, 37, who goes by Caro, works in Brussels as the in-house counsel at Intrasoft International, a technology consultant, based in Luxembourg. She graduated from Robert Schuman University in Strasbourg, France, which in 2009 became part of the University of Strasbourg, from which she then received a diploma of specialized higher education in intellectual property. She also received a Master of Business Law from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England.
She is a daughter of Stella Ifergan Dubois and Michel Dubois of Strasbourg. The bride’s father retired as the director of human resources at Banque Populaire in Strasbourg. Her mother was a stay-at-home parent.
Mr. Benizri, also 37, is a lawyer working in Brussels for the Chicago law firm Sidley Austin. He is the president of the Belgian Federation of Jewish Organizations in Brussels, as well as a vice president of both the European Jewish Congress in Brussels and the World Jewish Congress in New York. He graduated with high distinction from the Free University of Brussels and received a Master of Laws from McGill University in Canada.
He is a son of Lydie D. Corcos and Salomon S. Benizri of Brussels. The groom’s mother, who is retired, was the director of administration at the World Customs Organization in Brussels. His father retired as a Jewish studies teacher at various secondary schools in Brussels.
The bride’s previous marriage ended in divorce, as did the groom’s.
The couple met in 2008 when they went out for drinks with mutual friends in Brussels, and over the years saw each other as friends at events and in groups. In 2018, after each had divorced, they ran into each other on a tramway in Brussels while taking their children — each have three — to summer school. They then decided to see each other more regularly.
