Caitlin O’Donnell Tormey and Michael Gene Mongiardini were married June 8 at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Sleepy Hollow N.Y. The Rev. Dany Abi-Akar, a Roman Catholic priest, performed the ceremony.
Mrs. Mongiardini, 35, is the chief commercial officer for Naadam, a sustainable cashmere company in New York that produces luxury knitwear. She also owns East Bower Consulting, a company that provides strategic advisory and solutions for those in the art and retail sectors. The bride was previously a professional marathon runner. She graduated from Princeton and received two M.B.A.s, one from Columbia and one from London Business School.
She is a daughter of Jill O’Donnell Tormey and Thomas A. Tormey Jr. of Grymes Hill, Staten Island. The bride’s father is the former assistant district attorney and bureau chief of the Manhattan Special Investigations Bureau under Robert M. Morgenthau. He is currently a lawyer in private practice in Manhattan. He also serves on the board of the Staten Island Museum. The bride’s mother is the chief executive and director of scientific affairs at the Cancer Research Institute in Manhattan. She is also a trustee of the City University of New York.
Mr. Mongiardini, 34, is a research analyst in the New York office of Point72 Asset Management, a global asset management firm based in Stamford, Conn. From 2008 to 2013, he served in the Army Special Forces as a Green Beret, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. During that time, he learned to speak fluent Mandarin and spearheaded intelligence collection for two politically unstable South Asian countries and assured the combat readiness of 120 Filipino Special Forces soldiers preparing for combat as part of Operation Enduring Freedom-Philippines. The groom was formerly a professional baseball player and relief pitcher for the Kalamazoo Kings in the Eastern Division of the Frontier League. He graduated from Yale and received an M.B.A. from Columbia.
He is a son of Harold G. Mongiardini of Toms River, N.J., and the late Patricia J. Mongiardini. The groom’s father is an HVAC mechanic at the Community Medical Center in Toms River. His mother was an office manager at the Manchester Township Police Department in New Jersey.
The couple met on Tinder in November 2014.
