Brian Joseph Focarino and Brian Jeremiah Shea were married Oct. 25 at Boston City Hall. Patricia A. McMahon, the city registrar, officiated. On Nov. 3, Jason C. Focarino, a brother of Mr. Focarino, is to lead the couple in their vows in Yelapa, Mexico.
The couple met during law school at William & Mary, from which each received a law degree cum laude and from which Mr. Focarino graduated cum laude.
Mr. Focarino (left), 30, is a litigation associate in the Boston office of Cooley, a law firm based in Palo Alto, Calif. He received a master’s degree in linguistics from the University of Edinburgh. He is on the board of the William & Mary Libraries.
He is a son of Margaret A. Focarino of Penn Yan, N.Y., and Charles W. Focarino of Penfield, N.Y. Mr. Focarino’s mother, who is retired, was the United States Commissioner for Patents at the Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, Va. She is on the board of the Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association in Geneva, N.Y. His father retired as a director in the special investigations unit at Blue Cross Blue Shield Association in Washington. Mr. Focarino is a stepson of Flora K. Focarino and William H. Roege.
Mr. Shea, 31, is a corporate and securities associate at Mintz, a law firm based in Boston. He graduated from Dartmouth.
He is the son of Kristen C. Shea and Robert P. Shea of Wolfeboro, N.H. His mother is a Spanish teacher at Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro. His father is the artistic director of the Barnstormers Theater in Tamworth, N.H.
The couple met in 2014 while on the William & Mary Business Law Review. Mr. Shea was the editor in chief and Mr. Focarino was the executive editor. Their first date was in November 2014 in Stamford, Conn. Mr. Shea, who had free tickets, invited Mr. Focarino to a taping of “Maury,” the show hosted by Maury Povich, where they correctly predicted the results of all three paternity tests. Three years later, Mr. Shea proposed to Mr. Focarino in a jungle treehouse in Yelapa.
