Elizabeth Rose Rich and Robert Vincent Groat were married June 20 at the East End Temple in New York. Cantor Shira Ginsburg officiated. On June 22, Cantor Ginsburg also led a second ceremony, in which the couple affirmed their vows, at City Vineyard, Pier 26 in New York.
Mrs. Groat, who is 30 and known as Bitsy, is a director of global communications for Visa in New York, working specifically for Visa’s sponsorship of the Olympics, New York Fashion Week and Hudson Yards. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles.
She is a daughter of Susan S. Rich and David N. Rich of Ridgefield, Conn. The bride’s father is a writer whose recent works include the novels “Middleman” (Dutton Publishing, 2013) and “Caravan of Thieves,” (Dutton Publishing, 2012). Her mother is the executive vice president and chief administrative officer of Webedia Movies Pro, a provider of data and technology for the film and entertainment industries.
Mr. Groat, who is 33 and known as Bobby, is a vice president at Barclays in New York. He graduated from the University of Michigan.
He is a son of Helga Groat of Detroit and the late Robert Groat. The groom’s mother is a medical technologist at Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn, Mich. His father was an officer with the Van Buren Police Department in Van Buren Township, Mich., from 1990 to 1995. During that time, he was also an agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration in western Wayne County, Mich. He also served as a firefighter for the Livonia Fire Department in Michigan from 1988 to 1994.
The couple were introduced through mutual friends in New York in 2014.
