Barbara Newman Zack and Norman Joel Rubin are to be married Oct. 13 at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield, Mich. Rabbi Aaron Starr is to officiate, with Hazzan David Propis to take part.
The bride, 72, retired as a substitute social studies teacher at Hillel Day School in Farmington Hills, Mich. She was previously a lawyer in private practice in Southfield. She is an immediate past president of the Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood and currently serves as a vice president. She graduated from the University of Michigan and received a law degree from Wayne State University.
She is a daughter of the late Eleanor B. Newman and the late Joseph H. Newman, who lived in West Bloomfield, Mich.
The groom, 80, is retired from the Ford Motor Company in Detroit as a telecommunications specialist. He graduated from the University of Michigan, and received an M.B.A. from the University of Detroit.
He is the son of the late Helen Rubin and the late Nathan Rubin, who lived in Detroit.
The bride’s previous two marriages ended in divorce. The groom was a widower.
The couple met in October 2017 at Congregation Shaarey Zedek, where they were attending holiday services.
