Dr. Audrey Michelle Uong and Dr. Gregory Scott Dibelius were married Aug. 10. The Rev. Boniface J. Ramsey performed the ceremony at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Manhattan.
Dr. Uong, 32, is a pediatric hospitalist at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx. She graduated cum laude from Amherst College, received a medical degree from New York Medical College, and received a master’s degree in clinical research methods from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
She is the daughter of Evangeline Uong and Alfonso C. Uong of Flushing, Queens. The bride’s father retired as an information technology quality assurance manager in the development program at the United Nations, in Manhattan. Her mother retired in Flushing as a distributor for the sales of medical gloves.
Dr. Dibelius, 35, is a facial plastic surgeon in private practice in Manhattan. He graduated cum laude from Amherst College, and received a medical degree summa cum laude from the State University of New York’s College of Medicine in Brooklyn.
He is a son of Nancy E. Dibelius and David R. Dibelius of Lake George, N.Y. The groom’s mother, a United Methodist pastor, is the associate director for vital congregations in the church’s upper New York conference. His father retired as a mechanical engineer at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna, N.Y.
Though both graduated from Amherst, the couple didn’t meet until 2012, when they were in medical training at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in Manhattan. She was still a medical student at the time, and he was a second-year resident, and when they began chatting, they found many parallels in their lives. A year later, after they again met up through their medical training — this time at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y. — they had their first date.
