Aubrey Jeanne Cox and Joseph Benjamin Ottenstein were married June 1 in Norman, Okla. Brie J. Loskota, a friend of the couple who became a minister through the American Fellowship Church, officiated in the courtyard at the University of Oklahoma’s Memorial Union, in a ceremony that included both Jewish and Christian traditions.
Mrs. Ottenstein, 31, leads the youth programs at the United States Institute of Peace, an organization that works to help countries to solve their problems without violent conflict. She graduated from the College of Charleston and received a master’s degree in international relations from American University.
She is the daughter of Lisa Chronister Cox and Mark R. Cox, both of Norman. The bride’s father is an environmental planning and real estate acquisition consultant in Norman. Her mother is a vocational rehabilitation counselor, also in Norman.
Mr. Ottenstein, 29, is a senior account manager in the Washington office of Insight Global, a staffing and recruiting company. He graduated from Syracuse.
He is the son of Ellen Cohen Ottenstein and Grant B. Ottenstein of Rockville, Md. The groom’s mother is a psychotherapist and social worker in private practice in Rockville. His father owns Ottenstein Insurance and Financial Services, also in Rockville.
The couple met in 2016, when they were seated next to each other at the wedding of a mutual friend, in Charlottesville, Va.
