Ashley Joan Ellerin and Samuel Joseph Boyar were married April 27 at the Hotel ZaZa in Houston. Rabbi David Lyon officiated.
Mrs. Boyar, 30, is a vice president for corporate tax planning in the Houston office of BBVA Compass Bancshares, an international bank based in Birmingham, Ala. She graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse and received a law degree from the University of Houston.
She is a daughter of Sharon L. Ellerin and Seth R. Ellerin of Houston. The bride’s father is a lawyer in private practice in Houston. Her mother is an administrator in the business office of the Shlenker School of Congregation Beth Israel, also in Houston.
The bride’s paternal grandmother, Betty Weinberg Ellerin, was the first woman justice of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, First Department, and its first woman presiding justice.
Mr. Boyar, also 30, is the deepwater business operations associate at Fieldwood Energy, an oil and gas company in Houston. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and received an M.B.A. from Rice University.
He is a son of Pamela Boyar and J. William Boyar of Houston. The groom’s father is a founder of BoyarMiller, a Houston-based law firm. His mother, who was a stay-at-home parent, retired as a real estate agent in Houston.
The couple met in April 2017 through the dating app Hinge.
