Anne Marie Choike and Gabriel Virgil Rauterberg were married June 29. The Rev. Dr. Allan J. White performed the ceremony at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Caledon, Ontario.
The bride and groom teach at law schools — she as an assistant clinical professor at Wayne State University in Detroit and he as an assistant professor at the University of Michigan.
Ms. Choike, 35, is also the director of the Wayne State’s business and community law clinic, which provides free transactional legal assistance to community-based businesses, nonprofit groups and social enterprises. She graduated from Cornell, and received both a law degree and a master’s degree in urban planning from Michigan.
She is the daughter of Elzbieta Mscichowska and Lawrence J. Choike, both of Shelby Township, Mich. The bride’s father retired as a probation officer in Mount Clemens, Mich., for the Michigan Department of Corrections. Her mother retired as a steel-parts buyer in the Pontiac, Mich., purchasing division of General Motors, the automobile company.
Mr. Rauterberg, 34, is also an author of “The New Stock Market: Law, Economics and Policy” (Columbia University Press, 2019). He graduated from the University of Toronto, and received a law degree from Yale.
He is the son of Ludmilla M. Rauterberg and John C. Rauterberg of Mississauga, Ontario. The groom’s mother was a stay-at-home parent. His father is a business consultant in Toronto.
The couple met at a faculty lunch and research presentation at Michigan, when Ms. Choike was also there, on a clinical law fellowship.
