Althea Jenkins Webber and Michael Eli Gruen were married Dec. 7 at Basilica Hudson, an arts and performance space in Hudson, N.Y. Joshua R. Brodie, a friend of the couple who became a Universal Life minister for this event, officiated.
Ms. Webber, 33, is a director of strategy at the College Board, the education organization in New York that develops and administers standardized tests, including the SAT. She graduated from Middlebury College and received a master’s degree in public administration from Columbia.
She is the daughter of Karen G. Jenkins and David S. Webber of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. The bride’s father is the vice president for finance and administration at the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in New York. Her mother is the executive director of Ethel’s Foundation for the Arts, which is in New York and supports the string quartet Ethel.
Mr. Gruen, 35, is the vice president for operations at Concourse Labs, a cloud governance start-up company in New York that develops software to help clients manage their public cloud usage. He is also a director of Literacy Trust, a New York organization that provides early childhood literacy programs in New York’s public schools. He graduated from Hamilton College.
He is a son of Melissa A. Gruen and John I. Gruen of New Shoreham, R.I., on Block Island. The groom’s mother was a stay-at-home parent and a freelance graphic designer, and is now a three-dimensional paper artist. His father is the owner of both Palisades Dental and South East Instruments, both medical-device manufacturers in Englewood, N.J.
The couple were introduced in 2016 through the League, a dating app, and had their first date in New York.
