Dr. Alexandra Pearson Kass and Jeffrey Wolf Schatz were married Sept. 7 at the Bronx Zoo. Dr. Martin Wasserman, an uncle of the bride who became a minister with American Marriage Ministries for the event, officiated.
Dr. Kass, 31, is a pediatric pulmonary fellow at Boston Children’s Hospital. She graduated cum laude from Harvard and received a medical degree from Columbia.
She is a daughter of Betty Jeanne P. Kass and Dr. Frederic I. Kass of the Bronx. The bride’s father is a professor of psychiatry at Columbia and is also a practicing psychiatrist with the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry. The bride’s mother, a psychiatric social worker, is retired and was the founder and director of the Columbia Day Treatment program, a psychiatric treatment facility with ColumbiaDoctors. She was also an assistant professor in psychiatry at Columbia and currently has a private practice in Manhattan.
Mr. Schatz, 33, is a partner in the investment funds group in the Boston office of Kirkland & Ellis, a Chicago-based law firm, where he focuses on private equity funds. He graduated from Cornell and received a law degree from Columbia.
He is the son of Barbara F. Wolf and Andrew M. Schatz of Westbrook, Conn. The groom’s parents, both retired, were lawyers at Schatz & Noble, a law firm in Hartford, where they focused on securities fraud. Since retiring, the groom’s mother received a master’s degree in medieval studies from Columbia. His father was the president of American Civil Liberties Union Connecticut in Hartford from 2010 to 2018.
The couple met in 2014 in Manhattan through the dating app Hinge.
