Dr. Alana Warhit and Kevin Sean Beckoff were married May 27 at the Woodbury Jewish Center in Woodbury, N.Y. Rabbi Joe Wolfson officiated.
Dr. Warhit, 27, is a resident in the psychiatry department of the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in chemistry and Jewish studies from Columbia, and received a medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx.
She is a daughter of Helene Warhit and Dr. Jeffrey M. Warhit of Woodmere, N.Y. The bride’s father is a radiologist at four of the Nassau County offices of Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology, a group practice based in Farmingdale, N.Y. Her mother was a stay-at-parent, and is a matchmaker for YUConnects.com, an online Jewish dating site.
Mr. Beckoff, 29, is an associate in the real estate group in the Manhattan office of Kirkland and Ellis, a Chicago-based law firm. He graduated summa cum laude with a degree in psychology and Near Eastern languages and civilizations from the University of Pennsylvania, and received a law degree from N.Y.U.
He is a son of Ronnie Beckoff-Borins of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Norman M. Beckoff of Fair Lawn, N.J.; and a stepson of Paul M. Borins. The groom’s mother, who is retired, ran an interior design studio in Ridgewood, N.J. She is the editor of “Boulders,” her community newsletter in Scottsdale. He father is a wealth manager and principal at Prestige Capital Management, an investment management firm in Lake Success, N.Y.
The couple met at a speed-dating event in September 2017 for modern Orthodox Jews on the Upper West Side, and spoke briefly while the group mingled before their actual face-to-face, three-minute encounter. A week later, their first real date over drinks on the Upper East Side had less of a time constraint and went on for about three hours.
