Abigail Heather Orenstein and David Benjamin Ash were married June 15 at the Barn at Ridgeland Mansion, an events space in Philadelphia. Rabbi Seth Frisch officiated.
The bride, 35, is a senior lecturer of the humanities at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and an adjunct professor of intellectual heritage at Temple, where she received a Ph.D. in rhetoric. She is also a yoga teacher in Philadelphia. She graduated from Brandeis and received a master’s degree in teaching English from Columbia.
She is the daughter of Miriam Brand Orenstein and Harry Jay Orenstein of Lafayette Hill, Pa. The bride’s father is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Lafayette Hill, and a retired school psychologist for Montgomery County. Her mother is a psychiatric nurse, and a psychotherapist in private practice in Lafayette Hill.
The groom, also 35, is an electrician at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority in Philadelphia.
He is a son of Deborah S. Ash and Dr. Reuben I. Ash of West Berlin, N.J. The groom’s mother is a medical records clerk at the Endo Center at Voorhees, an outpatient endoscopic facility in Voorhees, N.J., specializing in colorectal cancer screening and the treatment of various digestive diseases. His father is an emergency medical physician in Ocean County, N.J. He is also the medical director of Manahawkin Urgent Care, an urgent care treatment center in Manahawkin, N.J.
The couple met at the home of a mutual friend in 2005 but did not start dating until 2013.
