Many people think that the ideal way to get to know a person is to stroll along the street and drink a cocktail or coffee. It sounds boring, but a simple date gives the optimal time to understand if people are interested in one another. In addition, the risk of getting into an embarrassing situation is minimal. Approaching the first date creatively is the right way to make someone feel uncomfortable. Here are the worst first date ideas which for some reason are popular.
1. Dinner
This is a controversial opinion, but why do people choose dinner as their first date? Especially when it comes to a guy with whom you talked only on the Internet. Firstly, many people find it inconvenient to eat in the presence of the people they do not know. Here’s what one of our readers says:
I am getting terribly shy. I prepare for a long time before sending a piece into my mouth and try not to notice the remains of mayonnaise on the interlocutor’s cheeks. Nobody looks beautiful when eating. Even Adam Levine.
Secondly, dinner takes a lot of time, and it is extremely difficult to leave at any moment. What if you have a date with a freak? Or with a serial killer? Or with a fan of Britney Spears? Yet, many are pleased with the idea to eat for free. Besides, at a meeting with someone whom you see for the first time, it is better to have an opportunity to quickly say goodbye.
2. Cinema
Cinema belongs to the top three popular places for dating. Are people attracted to the opportunity of sitting in a dark hall with a stranger for an hour and a half, chewing popcorn and listening to the stupid comments of schoolchildren? During the first date, I would like to get to know a person better and talk with him. Even if you have already told each other your biography in messages, in real life you will start dating again. People should be terribly uninteresting to each other to go to the cinema for their first date!
3. Skating or roller skating
It is nice in theory and difficult to do in reality. In the movies, characters often go to the skating rink for their first date. There they draw circles on the ice and hold hands as if they spent their whole life preparing for a TV show. Or the lady suddenly stumbles, and he gently grabs her by the waist. Come back to reality: there are always a lot of unpleasant people on a skating rink, and many of them are children. Some man weighing a hundred kilos pushes you in the shoulder, and you fall, knocking down a few more people, and someone’s child gets stuck between your legs. The one who should at this moment gently pick you up by the waist is staring at your Biellmann spin from the opposite side of the rink.
4. Museum
This is another idea for the first date, which is good only in theory. Of course, if you have not met at the Art History lesson. Semi-empty corridors (if you are not in the Louvre, where you will always be accompanied by Chinese tourists) and whispers about the 19th century paintings seem a bit pretentious during the first date. Even if you are a big fan of fine arts, leave this idea at least for the third meeting. However, if this is a museum of eroticism in Amsterdam, your date can turn out pretty spicy.
5. Concert
Bad idea #5 is a concert. A concert of your popular band is not a very nice first date idea as well. Just like cinema, this event deprives you of communication. If there is a band that both of you like, then you will at least spend time with pleasure. Although you will surely feel reserved next to an unknown guy, and you will not sing and dance.
Taking a guy to a concert of your beloved band is a form of mockery. Listening to his idols is bad too because you have to pretend that you like this music. On the other hand, the offer to go to a concert is an excellent check for morons and perverts. If he enthusiastically invites you to a dubious band, this meeting might not be needed at all.
