The São Paulo School of Advanced Science Ecology of Human Sleep and Biological Rhythms will be held August 2-12, 2021 in Brazil at the University of São Paulo’s School of Public Health, São Paulo city.

The School will focus on sleep and circadian rhythms from an ecological perspective, highlighting the application of this knowledge in well-being, disease prevention and treatment in human populations. Topics such as ontogeny of circadian rhythms; epidemiological studies on sleep; chronobiotics; work hours, health and the timing of social life; and challenges of the tempo of our planet and evolution will be discussed by the School’s lectures. The school will present state-of-art science and results of new research.
Debra J. Skene, from the University of Surrey, Diane B. Boivin, from McGill University, Kenneth P. Wright Jr., from the University of Colorado, and Claudia Moreno, from the University of São Paulo, are some of the experts featured on the School’s team of speakers.
The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) is supporting the event through its São Paulo School of Advanced Science Program (SPSAS)
Students and Young Researchers (up to PhD researchers holding title obtained five years max) engaged in research in chronobiology, sleep, human ecology and related fields are encouraged to register and participate in the event – registrations will be open until January 30, 2021. We will provide funding for transportation and accommodation for selected students.
The event will select 100 participants (50 grantees from all states of Brazil and 50 international grantees). Registrations will be evaluated by the organizing comittee based in the candidate’s academic record, letter of recommendation and motivation letter.
Originally scheduled for last August, the school was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Those who already sent the application do not need to submit it again.
