Cassoulet season has ended, but the handmade bowls that M. Wells in Long Island City, Queens, commissioned to bake and serve theirs this year are timeless. The blue-and-white pottery pieces, in slightly varied designs and tones, can just as easily hold servings of bouillabaisse or be used for summer berries, cherries, a thatch of coleslaw or crudités. They’re made by Janet Belden, a local potter, with a Majolica-style glaze, and they are oven and microwave-safe. Each is about eight inches in diameter with a capacity just shy of a quart. You might start to think about Mother’s Day.
