Worldwide, an estimated 26 million people have heart failure.1 In Europe, one-year all-cause mortality rates for acute and chronic heart failure are 23.6% and 6.4%, respectively, and heart failure hospitalisation rates are 18.7% and 9.9%, respectively.2
One out of five individuals will develop heart failure in their lifetime. Heart failure means that the heart isn’t pumping properly, so the rest of the body is not getting the oxygen it needs. It is responsible for increasing economic costs, frequent hospitalisation and high levels of mortality.
During 5 to 19 June, six days have been earmarked for live sessions between 17:00 and 20:00 CEST. Explore the scientific programme and register here to access the live sessions.
Sessions will include a webinar on COVID-19 and heart failure. Plus: a session on the Universal Definition of Heart Failure, with participation from the Heart Failure Association (HFA) of the ESC, the Heart Failure Society of America, and the Japanese Heart Failure Society.
Late-breaking science will be presented live by the authors in seven sessions, revealing novel treatments, insights into differences between women and men, how to prevent sudden death, optimising management in nursing homes, and much more. Followed by insights from a panel of experts and questions from the audience.
All live sessions will be available as video on demand, with content free to My ESC account holders for a limited period.
Original research will also be presented in more than 800 scientific abstracts.
