In 2011, Patrick Martins had the idea to promote the use of meat from male goats on dairy farms during the month of October. Mr. Martins, a co-founder of the online meat and poultry market Heritage Foods, called it Goatober. By 2016, he had teamed up with a goat meat company in England, and goat meat events were soon held in English cities. This year, they will take place in Frankfurt; Rome; Amsterdam; Ibiza, Spain; Nantes, France; New York and elsewhere in the United States. And for the first time, the events will be publicized and coordinated globally. In New York, about 40 restaurants will serve goat, with special dinners on Oct. 17 at Claro in Brooklyn; and Oct. 18 at Huertas in the East Village.
