Its modern-day configuration has more consumerist properties at its forefront and is now a massive shopping festival oversees (think of it as Black Friday times ten, with livestream shopping events setting record sales from Alibaba and its ilk upwards of $155 billion).
Retailers stateside and beyond are embracing the self-care day with deals of their own. After all, doesn’t the doom of late stage capitalism preside over us in equal part with our fear of a lifetime alone?
