Wash your hair in the morning
“Oily hair” is a set expression that actually means the scalp that secretes sebum actively. That is what we need to manage. In particular, it can be done if you wash your hair in the morning, but not at night. Physiologically, the sebaceous glands work at full capacity in the early hours. Thus, the risks of getting up with dirty hair or “stain” it during the day will be diminished significantly.
Use oil-free shampoos
Oils make your strands heavier and contaminate them. If you are not sure about the ingredients of the selected tube, look at the texture of the product: transparent and gel-like shampoos are suitable for you, it is desirable that they have the note “suitable for daily use”. By the way, excessive application of care products on the hair produces the same dirty hair effect.
People with oily skin should follow the minimum requirements: conditioner or lotion (apply such products only on the tips); it is better to avoid using masks and scrubs (especially since they irritate the skin, which enhances sebum production).
It is important to clearly know your type of the scalp skin. You should take it into account when choosing hair care rather than focus on your hair problems. You need to look for the shampoo saying “for oily hair” rather than “extra volume”.
Turn down the temperature
No hot water, no frequent use of hair dryer (at the maximum temperature) no hair straightener gadgets and curling irons are allowed. When the skin feels heated, this serves as a signal for activating the sebaceous glands. In this way, the body tries to save itself from overheating.
Do not use many hair styling products
Once again, we repeat the rule from one of the previous paragraphs: the more products are applied to the head, the more it will try to get rid of them, producing sebum. This is true of all styling products: leave-on hair care, mousse, hair spray, and even dry shampoo, which should be used very carefully. You can’t use it every single day. Dry shampoo attracts water, dehydrating the skin and hair roots. Oddly enough, it is better to use dry shampoo after you have washed your hair. It prolongs the effect of clean hair (if, for example, you know that in the near future there will be no conditions for washing your curls).
Wash your hair, when it is necessary
Should we wash our hair every day? This is the question that has been worrying most of us almost since childhood. Washing should be done, when it is necessary. If your head gets dirty quickly and if it happens every day, then nobody will stand between you and the shower. Try to make the procedure better: apply shampoo to your hair for at least 30-60 seconds and massage your head at the same time. It is better to touch only the roots, the rest of your hair and the tips will be cleaned by the foam.
